Hey people,
today I have a cute side dish that you may want to try to make for your honey this Valentines Day. If you know me, I'm all about helping you impress that special someone so that at least one of us will get some action 😉. If you have read my Romantic Dinner for 2 post then you know I prefer to cook romantic dinners for my hubby at home and this would be a perfect side for such a dinner.
Potato Roses! Easy, super cute, and a great way to add a little something special to impress your date. Here's how to make them.
Ingredients-
5 Potatoes (I used red potatoes)
1 Stick Butter (melted)
1 Tbs Olive Oil
1/2 tsp Salt
1/2 tsp Pepper
1/2 tsp Onion Powder
1 tsp Dried Chives
Recommended Tools-
Cupcake Tray
Mandoline Slicer
Directions-
Preheat Oven to 350 degrees.
First you need to peel and slice the potatoes 1/8 inch thick.
I recommend a mandoline slicer to cut the potatoes. This will give the best results because the potatoes need to be cut thin. However, you can cut them with a kitchen knife it will just take longer and the slices may not be as even.
Put the potato slices to a bowl and drizzle on the melted butter and olive oil. Add the seasonings and give it all a good toss. Next, butter or spray your cup cake tray.
To make the rose shape, start with 5-6 potato slices overlapping in a row. Roll up the potatoes from the end like you would roll a paper tube. This is the start of your rose.
Place the potatoes in the cup cake tray and continue to add more potato slices around the outside until full.
This recipe makes about 5-6 roses depending on the size of your potatoes. Last is to bake the roses. Be sure you do not add any extra butter to the potatoes or they will get to soggy. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes. To test for doneness, poke the center of the rose with a toothpick of knife to make sure it is soft and cooked through. Just remove with a spoon or spatula and it will hold its shape.
That's all there is to it. Rolling the first few potato slices may take a few tries but once you get it down they are pretty easy to make. They taste similar to a bakes potato so I served mine with sour cream. I hope you give these a try and let me know how they turned out. You can also see how I made these on my YouTube Channel. See ya later.
