Pizza Pot Pie

Hey guys,
 3 words....Pizza Pot Pie. 

 Yes, it is real and yes, you want it. Ive seen this food miracle floating around on the internet and decided I needed to make my own variation of it. All I can say is OMG, this thing is awesome. A pizza crust bowl filled with a delicious meat sauce and gooey cheese. What more could you want?! This recipe makes 4 pot pies but since I only made 2 I froze the rest of my sauce to use again. Also this can be totally customizable with each person adding their favorite pizza toppings. Here's my recipe. 


1lb Italian Sausage
1 Onion (diced)
1 Green Bell Pepper (diced)
3 Cloves Garlic (minced)
1/2 cup Pepperoni (chopped)
1 teaspoon Oregano
1 teaspoon Italian Seasoning
Salt & Pepper to taste
1 (24oz) Jar Marinara Sauce
Pizza Crust Dough (13oz homemade or store bought)
Sliced Mozzarella or Havarti Cheese (something that melts good)
Favorite Pizza Toppings


First make the meat sauce. Brown the Italian sausage with the onion, green bell pepper and garlic.

Then add the pepperoni, oregano, Italian seasoning and the marinara sauce. Salt and pepper to taste. Let simmer for a few minutes for the flavors to come together. 

Next prepare the bowls. You need 2 (1 quart) oven safe bowls. Spray or butter the bowls very well and don't forget the outside lip.

Then lay in the cheese slices to cover the bottom of the bowl completely, about 5-6 slices should do. (I never said this was healthy)

At this point add in your favorite toppings. I added sliced mushrooms to mine and extra pepperoni to my hubbies.

 Ladle in 1 cup of the meat sauce to each bowl.

 Take a chunk of your pizza dough and stretch it across the bowl. you can make your crust as thick or thin as you like.

 Put your bowls on a try and bake them in a 400 degree oven for 30-40 minutes.

 When they are done its time for the big flip. Lay a plate on top of your bowl and flip the whole thing over so the crust is now on the bottom. Using a spoon gently remove the bowl to reveal the cheesiness. 

 One of these pot pies will definitely fill you up. That's why I only made 2 and froze my remaining sauce. This is something I really hope you try and let me know your favorite pizza toppings. Also for a more visual version check out my YouTube video. Thanks and I'll see ya soon!
